In June, we were able to focus some time on features that we considered “nice to have” for launch. This involved a lot of small tweaks to improve user experience, accessibility, and branding.
Status Update
Here’s a few of the things we’ve completed recently:
- A plan for how we will accommodate documentation related to the future theme.
- Note: We also landed on a new name for the future theme: UW Theme 2.0!
- Building commenced on the new WiscWeb infrastructure.
- Pattern updates:
- Added a new Topics Page pattern for building a text-heavy webpage related to a particular topic. This was identified as a need in user testing in February 2025.
- Added a new pattern category called “Page Title” for patterns designed to go at the top of a page with the Title block already built in. This makes it quicker to create pages with a more unique top section, like a hero banner.
- Updated the full-page pattern titled “Service Page” pattern to use a white background rather than gray. This change was made based on user feedback in a recent WiscWeb Lunch and Learn.
- The Service Page full-page pattern is designed to highlight a specific service area or program with clear calls-to-action that help users find the information they need quickly.
- We completed a card sorting exercise with 8 campus users that helped define names we use to categorize patterns in the editor. Thanks to everyone who participated!
We also completed round 3 of our accessibility testing and already started implementing some fixes to the found barriers.
In July, we’ll continue working on training and support documentation, and hope to wrap-up builds of the image and content carousel, RSS feed block, and Settings UI styling.
